Superpowers! The Cultural Hackathon
Do you have creative ideas on how to encourage people to step out of their bubbles? Are you interested in culture and enjoy developing innovative event formats with others?
At the SUPERPOWERS! - Cultural Hackathon at the Museumsquartier Bern (May 23 - May 25, 2024), people with different skills tackle a given challenge and work in interdisciplinary teams to create prototypes for innovative and participatory cultural formats. The winning ideas will be taken up by the institutions of the Museumsquartier Bern and jointly pursued.
The deadline for application is January 28, 2024. A jury will assemble an interdisciplinary
group of participants by the end of February 2024. There are no formal requirements for participation. The SUPERPOWERS! Cultural Hackathon thrives on diverse participants.
How does the Cultural Hackathon at Museumsquartier work?
From all applications, we will invite 80 people to the Museumsquartier Bern. Onsite, the participants form interdisciplinary teams. Over two days, the participants exchange their wealth of ideas, viewpoints, and knowledge, and collaboratively develop innovative and participatory cultural formats in record time.
A great closing party, interesting people and a peek behind the scenes of the eleven institutions make the Cultural Hackathon at the Museumsquartier Bern an unforgettable experience.

The application period starts on December 18, 2023, and ends on January 28, 2024. The jury will select and announce participants by email on February 29, 2024.
No, on the contrary. Participation is free, and you will receive a compensation of CHF 100 from us.
We recommend public transport or by bike. From the main railway station, you can reach the Museumsquartier Bern on foot in less than 10 minutes.
Or you can take Tram No. 6 (direction "Worb Dorf"), Tram No. 7 (direction "Ostring"), or Tram No. 8 (direction "Saali") to the "Helvetiaplatz" stop directly to the Museumsquartier. Car parking spaces are not available.
Please bring your laptop with a power supply and any other favorite devices. Everything else, including internet access, will be provided by us.
We are happy to organize accommodation for you; the various options can be found in the registration form. The costs for accommodation will be covered by us.

The Superpowers of the Museumsquartier Bern represent the outstanding strengths of the eleven cultural and educational institutions. Details on these powers will be revealed during the virtual onboarding and on-site.
During an online onboarding, we will introduce you to sub-challenges aligned with the main challenge. On-site, during team-building on Friday morning, you will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and choose a sub-challenge.
Yes, our mentors and experts from the institutions of Museumsquartier Bern are there to help you with questions and challenges.
According to creativity, content, and feasibility. A jury and the audience will evaluate your ideas during the public presentation on Saturday.
You will find out directly on Friday. The jury decision is final and conclusive.
By participating in the Hackathon, you give your consent for Museumsquartier Bern to further develop and use the ideas and prototypes.
