A weekend dedicated to bronze: thrilling demonstrations and a rich mixture of hands-on activities will draw young and old to the museum park.
Experimental archaeologists will present a range of Bronze Age clothing, ceramics, and musical instruments. Visitors can savour prehistoric delicacies and even prepare them themselves in the show kitchen. Those who feel brave enough can test their marksmanship with a bow and arrow. And for those interested in archaeology, the Archaeological Service of the Canton of Bern provides an insight into the mysterious world of underwater archaeology. The bronze workshop is also not to be missed: using Bronze Age methods, pieces from the Prêles grave ensemble will be recast and worked over a crackling fire and hissing bronze. Children can try their hand as archaeologists at an excavation, reconstruct Bronze Age pottery, cast miniature hands in pewter, or discover hidden bronze treasures on a puzzle trail in the museum park. The programme is rounded off with guided tours for families and adults around the exhibition “And then came bronze!”
Tickets can only be purchased on site.
The bar in the museum park and the restaurant Steinhalle are open.
